“At the start, I wanted to quit all the time. I have dyslexia and it was frustrating to express my thoughts. It was hard. But my support worker helped me enrol, my teacher took the time to explain things, and I had someone with me every step of the way. Finishing my course was the best part — and now I’ve been offered a job in childcare.”

Real Stories

“With help from my support workers, I get to live how I want — I go to work, catch the train, do my own shopping and bills, and still make time for bowling and the footy. They’ve helped me stay independent, but also feel supported. I feel lucky to have a team that respects me and helps me enjoy life.”

Bruce, NDIS Participant

“Community Access is more than just a fun night out. For participants like Lynne and Vanessa, it’s about building confidence, creating memories, and feeling part of something bigger. With the right support, these experiences become powerful moments of connection and inclusion.

NDIS Frequently Asked Questions

?

NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. It provides support to people with a disability, their families and carers. It is jointly governed and funded by the States and Territories within Australia. NDIS is about giving people with disability the choice and control over the supports that meet their needs, with the appropriate funding available to make this happen.

It covers the needs of people with disability up to the age of 65.

It can provide assistance in a wide variety of areas determined by meetings with planners and other people who are there to advocate on your behalf.

NDIS funding is determined by your planner and will aim to:

  • help set out how you will achieve your individual goals and aspirations
  • help with your social and/or economic participation
  • help to maintain your informal supports

Opendoor can provide the supports you need in line with the areas funded in your plan. We can also assist with reviewing the details of your plan, and identify areas where you may you need different levels of funding.

Opendoor is a registered NDIS provider and has been supporting participants since 2018.

We can help you understand your plan, connect with the right services, and access the supports that align with your goals. Whether you need support coordination, community access, or help finding a job, we’re here to make it easier.
