Navigating the NDIS can feel complex and overwhelming especially when you’re trying to make the right decisions for yourself or someone you care about. At Opendoor, Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching are designed to provide clarity, confidence, and steady support, so participants can focus on living well and moving toward the life they want.

We offer more than coordination. We provide trusted guidance, strong advocacy, and long-term relationships that support people through change, challenge, and growth. With almost 40 years of experience and services delivered across the whole of Victoria, Opendoor is deeply connected to local communities, councils, providers, and service systems and those connections directly benefit the people we support.

Support Coordination

Support Coordination helps participants understand, implement, and get the most out of their NDIS plan. It focuses on connecting people with the right supports, building capacity to manage services, and ensuring plans are working as intended.

Support Coordinators work alongside participants to:

  • Understand NDIS plans and funding in clear, practical terms
  • Identify and connect with suitable local supports and services
  • Coordinate multiple providers and supports
  • Build confidence to make informed choices and manage supports over time
  • Navigate changes, transitions, or periods of increased need
  • Prepare for plan reviews, reassessments, and life transitions
Our Support Coordinators are experienced, locally connected, and strong advocates. They understand the service landscape and work closely with councils, community organisations, and providers to ensure supports are accessible, appropriate, and responsive.

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is a specialised support for people with psychosocial disability. It focuses on recovery-oriented practice, capacity building, and strengthening stability, wellbeing, and independence over time.

Recovery Coaches work in partnership with participants to:

  • Build routines, confidence, and everyday stability
  • Strengthen coping strategies and resilience
  • Develop skills to manage supports, relationships, and daily life
  • Navigate periods of change, stress, or mental health challenges
  • Strengthen informal supports and community connections
  • Work toward personal goals at a pace that feels safe and achievable

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is not crisis support. It is about steady, consistent guidance that supports long-term recovery and participation in everyday life.

What’s the Difference?

While Support Coordination focuses on managing and coordinating NDIS supports, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching takes a more therapeutic, recovery‑focused approach. Some participants may benefit from one or the other, while others may use both at different times in their NDIS journey.

Our team works with participants and families to help determine which support best fits their needs, goals, and circumstances and to adjust supports as those needs change.

Getting Started Choosing the right support can make a significant difference to your NDIS experience. We start with a conversation to understand your goals, circumstances, and what kind of support feels right for you. If you would like to learn more about Support Coordination or Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, or discuss how these supports could work within an NDIS plan, our team is available to talk through options and next steps.

NDIS Frequently Asked Questions

?

NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. It provides support to people with a disability, their families and carers. It is jointly governed and funded by the States and Territories within Australia. NDIS is about giving people with disability the choice and control over the supports that meet their needs, with the appropriate funding available to make this happen.

It covers the needs of people with disability up to the age of 65.

It can provide assistance in a wide variety of areas determined by meetings with planners and other people who are there to advocate on your behalf.

NDIS funding is determined by your planner and will aim to:

  • help set out how you will achieve your individual goals and aspirations
  • help with your social and/or economic participation
  • help to maintain your informal supports

Opendoor can provide the supports you need in line with the areas funded in your plan. We can also assist with reviewing the details of your plan, and identify areas where you may you need different levels of funding.
