Every September, Adult Learners Week shines a light on the power of lifelong learning. At Opendoor, we see its impact every day.
For adults, learning is about much more than textbooks or classrooms. It is about confidence, connection, and discovering what you can achieve at any stage of life. Many of our students have not thought of themselves as “a learner” in years, and enrolling in a course marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with possibilities.
Why Adult Learners Week matters
Adult Learners Week is a national celebration of the role education plays in helping people shape their futures. It recognises the achievements of learners across the country and highlights the importance of making education inclusive, supportive, and accessible to everyone.
This year, we are especially proud to celebrate Nina Posner, one of our own training participants.
Nina has been recognised as a finalist for the Adult Learners Week Scholarship, which honours people who show commitment and passion for learning. Nina’s is a powerful example of how inclusive, supported learning pathways can foster independence, confidence, and future employment. She has since gained casual employment at the child care centre where she completed the work placement as a part of her course.
Nina’s journey reflects the resilience and courage that so many adults bring with them when they return to study. Her recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a reminder of how transformative adult learning can be

Lifelong learning at Opendoor
We know that returning to study as an adult can feel overwhelming. That is why Opendoor’s training programs are built with flexibility and support at their core. Our courses are designed to fit around real life, with trainers who understand the challenges adult learners face.
We keep class sizes small so learners feel comfortable and supported. We focus on practical, hands-on skills that can be applied immediately in workplaces and communities. And for those who are eligible, government funding helps make study more affordable.
Our aim is simple: to create a safe and encouraging environment where adults can grow in confidence, discover new pathways, and take steps toward their goals.
