MEET HAIDEN

Eighteen-year-old Haiden is an aspiring IT professional with a passion for computers and customer service. He is making waves in his personal and professional journey despite the challenges he faces due to his Autism diagnosis. Living at home with his family, Haiden dreams of working in the IT industry and has refused to let his condition define his future.
Haiden openly discusses how Autism impacts his daily life. He is highly structured and interprets situations uniquely, which can sometimes be a challenge for those around him. Despite these obstacles, Haiden remains determined to be part of something extraordinary, turning what some see as a barrier into his strength. His goal is clear: to work in a fulfilling career that aligns with his love for IT and customer service.
Haiden’s Youth Coach at Transition to Work (TtW) has been instrumental in supporting him along this journey. Their approach has focused on empowering Haiden and highlighting his Autism as a unique advantage rather than a limitation. Haiden has taken many positive steps forward, from participating in Transition to Work’s Job Club, being referred to the Employment Education Consultant (EEC) team, where he’s awaiting placement in an IT traineeship, to actively engaging in programs like Next GEN and YEPP, where he has built strong friendships and developed his leadership skills.
When Haiden first started his employment journey, he was shy and hesitant, rarely making eye contact. Today, he is brimming with confidence and fully committed to securing a long-term, stable career in IT. His Youth Coach has seen Haiden grow into someone who not only actively attends appointments but does so with enthusiasm, booking sessions into his schedule and communicating with his coach whenever needed.
Haiden’s positive attitude has made a strong impression at Opendoor. Whether engaging with employers or participating in interview prep sessions, Haiden’s excitement about potential career opportunities and positive outlook on life is very admirable.
His Youth Coach and the Transition to Work team are excited to continue supporting him as he works towards achieving his dreams in working in the IT industry.Â
