MEET BLAIR
Blair’s journey back to employment is one of perseverance, hope, and determination. After becoming unemployed in February 2023, the once-confident worker struggled for over a year to secure a job. Despite his past experience, including management positions, Blair found himself facing several rejections, leading to feelings of depression and a loss of confidence in his job search. He was draining his savings just to survive.
Everything changed in March 2024, when Blair was referred to the Jobs Victoria program by a friend. Upon meeting at the Sunshine office, Blair shared his willingness to start fresh and rebuild his career from the ground up, desperate to secure an income to cover essential living expenses such as rent, food, and transportation.
Understanding his determination and readiness, Jobs Victoria staff suggested Blair pursue a forklift licence to boost his employability. Excited by the prospect, Blair agreed, and arrangements were made with Trainix for him to undergo the necessary training. With his resilience shining through, Blair successfully completed the course and earned his forklift licence.
The support from Jobs Victoria didn’t stop there. Blair received assistance in polishing his resume, crafting strong cover letters, and preparing for interviews. His hard work paid off when he landed an interview with Dynamic Staffing Solution and was offered a full-time position at Cedar Meats in June 2024.
Blair’s return to the workforce has not only provided him with much-needed financial stability but also reignited his sense of purpose. He enjoys his new role and continues to receive ongoing support, including fuel vouchers and workwear for his job.
Blair’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance, support, and taking that one brave step forward. After overcoming the challenges of unemployment, he is now thriving in his new position and excited for the future.
